Within the framework of the implementation of the project “Smart Forests – Pest Management through Drones”, during the period 9–12 December 2025, in Librazhd, a five-day professional training on the use of drones in the ecological management of forest pests was successfully held.
The training was organized by PSEDA–ILIRIA, in collaboration with partners AlbNatyra and AGRIEN, with financial support from the GreenAL program – Grants for Strengthening Environmental Organizations in Albania 2024–2027, implemented by Co-PLAN, COSV and VIS Albania.
The objective of the activity was the training and certification of 15 specialists of the National Forest Agency (AFN), representatives from 12 regions of Albania, on the use of drones in the ecological management of forest pests.
During the training, participants were trained in:
the professional use of drones,
the application of ecological methods in forest management,
pest monitoring and biodiversity protection.
The program combined theoretical and practical knowledge, including field demonstrations on the application of the biopesticide Bacillus thuringiensis, an environmentally friendly solution for combating invasive pests such as Cydalima perspectalis (bush moth).
This activity represents an important step towards the modernization of forest management in Albania, by building new technical capacities at central and local levels and by promoting an innovative, sustainable and reusable model at the national level.
